Fighter profiling and statistics

The organization of the sport requires that there is a system of rankings and profiles. The MMA heavy weight division is perhaps one of the most challenging of all the MMA weight classes. It has a parameter listing of two hundred and six pounds running through to two hundred and sixty five pounds. The players have to be in a position to achieve these weight measurements before they start the fight. The MMA heavy weight rankings are based on various opinions from experts and observers and take into consideration different factors. Some of the factors include the weight class and the win or loss record in that particular period of time. We also have to be aware that the MMA heavy weight rankings keep changing on a regular basis such that those old statistics may not hold for the next month. As of July 2010 some of the tentative rankings for the MMA heavy weight division were as follows:

In the top position we have Brock Lesnar who currently has a win loss record of five to one. In the next position is Fedor Emelianenko who has thirty one wins against just two losses. There was a one no contest score as reported by the MMA weight classes. Position number three goes to Fabricio Werdum with his fourteen wins against four losses. He also has one no contest to bring to the MMA heavy weight rankings. In the fourth place is Cain Velasquez who has eight wins against no loss. Shane Carwin gets the fifth position with twelve wins against one loss. When it comes to Junior dos Santos, he takes the sixth place with an eleven to one win loss record.

We then move on to Alistair Overeem.  He has managed to accumulate thirty three wins and eleven loses with just a single no context event. This places him in the seventh position of the MMA heavy weight rankings. Frank Mir has won thirteen matches and lost five. This has landed him into the eighth position within this MMA heavy weight division. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had one no contest event but he acquires thirty two wins and six losses within the qualifying period. In the opinion of the experts he should be ranked in the ninth position. Antonio Silva takes the last spot on the top ten players in the MMA weight classes system. He is currently ranked tenth and has posted fourteen wins and just two losses in the qualifying period.

That pretty much completes the MMA heavy weight rankings list. We have concentrated on the top ten but there are other players within the different MMA weight classes that diligently participate in the MMA heavy weight division. It becomes an objective for them to join the prestigious top ten lists. They can achieve this through increasing their wins and reducing their losses. That is what the win loss records is all about and it is at the heart of the MMA heavy weight rankings.
